WEDNESDAY PRAYER MEETING

1497 Wigton Rd, Lucas, OH 44843

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE

We are not a traditional church.  We are not a contemporary church.  We are a simple church. We are a group of people who love Jesus and love one another.

We are committed to sound biblical teaching, prayer and fellowship with the goal of making disciples to bring glory to God.

YOUR CHILDREN ARE WELCOME HERE

Childrens ministry room.jpg

We are deeply committed to teaching children about the Word of God and how to apply the scriptures to their lives. The lessons are centered on Jesus Christ throughout the Old and New Testament.  Bible lessons are taught to all children age 3 through 5th grade.

Children of all ages worship in the sanctuary with their parents before going to the classrooms with their teachers.

A nursery/room is available directly off the sanctuary for nursing moms and parents of infants. Loving care is provided for children 10 months - age 3 every Sunday.

Children’s workers have completed background checks.

What is Happening at The Tree

FIRST SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP

The first Sunday of every month we gather in the fellowship hall of the church for a meal immediately following the service.  It is a time to break bread together and get to know one another on a more personal level. Bring a dish or two to share, make some friends, eat some food and laugh together.   The church provides all plates and tableware. If you are attending for the first time on a First Sunday, please just come and be our guest. There is always plenty of food..

Prayer Meeting

Every Wednesday night from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. we gather for prayer.  It is a more informal time where we come together to pray for the requests we have received and to intercede for the matters God has laid on our hearts. Prayer is a vital part of our church and we believe the prayer meeting is highly important to the health and growth of the church and our people.

AFTER SERVICE FELLOWSHIP

Every Sunday after church, we have a time of fellowship over coffee and refreshments. This is a wonderful time to get to know others in the church. Everyone is always welcome and encouraged to be a part of this time.

 ON-GOING FELLOWSHIP

Fellowship is a core foundation of our church. Fellowship happens when we gather for a meal once a month. It happens after church every Sunday over coffee and homemade snacks. Fellowship takes place at weekly prayer meeting. It also happens on workdays, Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies, after Sunday service, on mission nights, at youth Bible study and anytime we find ourselves gathered together at the church. Fellowship is something we live out every single week.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
    whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
    for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

- Jeremiah 17:7-8

ABOUT US

We are a group of people of varied ages and walks of life who gather together out of a desire to know more about Jesus Christ and become more like him.  We are not fancy.  We are not about complicated schedules or a lot of programs.

We do not have room in this space to share all of our testimonies, but we do have room in our lives to share them with you and to hear yours.   If you looked around our sanctuary and knew what Jesus has done in the individual lives and families here, you would be surprised, encouraged and blessed.

We are passionate about Jesus Christ and following him and inviting others to follow him because we know he is real and that he truly does love us and transforms lives in ways we never could have imagined.

We are fully aware that many people do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We also know that many who once walked with Jesus fell back into old habits of sin or addiction or indifference for whatever reason.  Our hearts are tender to those in each of these places.  We fully acknowledge the lavish grace and mercy God bestowed on us and we seek to share that with others as we simply testify to the love and transforming power of Jesus Christ.

what we believe

God

We believe in one God who is the Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three equally divine persons:  The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Bible

We believe the Word of God, the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testament is inspired by God and is without error in the original writings.  Therefore, it is to be believed in all it teaches, obeyed in all it requires, and trusted in all it promises.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one person in two natures.  He was conceived through the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.  Crucified, buried and resurrected and sits at the right hand of God the Father.

Mankind

We believe that God created Adam and Eve in his image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan.  In union with Adam, we are all sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God and under his wrath.

Atonement – Work of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed his blood on the cross as the perfect, all sufficient sacrifice for our sins.  His atoning death and resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation and justification for those that believe in Him.

Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Trinity glorifies the Lord Jesus in all he does.  He convicts the world of its sin.  He regenerates sinners.  He indwells guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.

Spiritual Gifts

We believe all the gifts listed in the New Testament are still active and useful for the edification of the church and glorification of God.  However, any spiritual gift not used in love is deemed useless and unprofitable.

Church

We believe that the true Church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ of which he is the head.

Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) which visibly and tangibly expresses the Gospel.

Christian Living

God commands us to love him and love others. We live this out by faith and sacrificially caring for one another.  With God’s word, the Spirit’s power and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil.  In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed.

Eschatology - Christ’s Return

We believe in the personal, imminent, bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, known only by God, demands constant expectancy and as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service as we patiently wait for his return.

Heaven and Hell

We believe in an eternal heaven and an eternal hell. Those who have received by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again by the Holy Spirit and thereby have become children of God and heirs of eternal life spent with him in heaven. Satan and his angels are still working in the world to destroy the souls of men and all who do not receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will eternally perish in the lake of fire.
